The Dialogue between the Church of the G.O.C. of Greece and the Orthodox Ecclesiastical Community of Those in Resistance
Ninth Joint Statement
On Thursday October 18/31, 2013 in the Monastery of Sts. Cyprian and Justina in Phylē, Attica, the ninth meeting occurred of the committees for dialogue between the Church of the G.O.C. of Greece and the Orthodox Community of Those in Resistance.
All of the designated members of both committees were present.
During the meeting, firstly there was a review of the path which has been followed until now. In continuation, the conversation centered around the process of the rapprochement of the two sides, based, on the one hand, on the proposals of the committee of the Orthodox Ecclesiastical Community of Those in Resistance, which had been submitted at the last meeting, and on the other hand, on the analytical counter-proposals which the committee of the Church of the G.O.C. submitted during the interval between the two meetings.
From the long and very constructive debate, a Draft of Steps for the Process of Unification was formulated, in general comprising the following:
a. The completion of discussions under an established agendum drawn up in order for ecclesiological agreement to be achieved.
b. The confrontation of the canonical barriers between the two sides and
c. The convocation of General Synod by the local non-innovating Orthodox Churches, so that it may decide with increased validity concerning the issues of the calendar innovation and the heresy of Ecumenism.
The issue of the critique of Ecumenism from a theological standpoint was put off until the next meeting which will take place on Thursday November 22nd /December 5th 2013, in the hall of St. Spyridon’s church in Galatsion, Athens.
