Clergy Conference 2017

Last Wednesday, June 28th, the clergy under the Bishops of the Eparchial Synod in America, convened to meet for the annual clergy conference at the Metropolis headquarters in Cobleskill, New York. Clergy met to discuss different pastoral issues. All of the Hierarchs gave Diocesan reports. Different talks were given: His Eminence, Metropolitan Demetrius gave a much needed talk entitled "Temptation From the Right," wherein he stressed the importance of our confession of faith void of self-righteousness (which gives birth to schism and heresy), His Eminence Bishop Auxentios gave an excellent and detailed report on the Seminary in Etna, and Priestmonk Maximos gave a very informative talk on the missions in Latin America. Fr Panagiotis gave a thorough and articulate talk concerning the false council of Crete.

All of the hierarchs, under the Presidency of His Eminence, Metropolitan Demetrius of America, convened on Friday, June 30th, to hold the sessions of the Synod.

The conference concluded with the grand festivities for the feast of St John of San Francisco, patron of the Metropolis of America, at the monastery named in honor of the Saint.

Father John served the faithful in Tucson and the surrounding area in his home Chapel until his repose in November of 2000. His wife, Presbytera Valerie, continued to make her home Chapel available for the mission, with clergy from Saint Nectarios Orthodox Church in Seattle and His Eminence, Metropolitan Moses of Toronto (then of Portland), visiting to provide the Divine Services.
